Go Beyond the Basics to Develop Your Talent
If you're entering grades 6-9 and are ready to dive deeper into the world of theatre, this summer camp is the place for you! In the mornings, you’ll work to devise and perform original works that you create with other students. In the afternoons, you’ll rehearse a one-act play to present for your friends and family. Join us in Advanced Center Stage Camp to build a community of actors and grow your skills! This camp is open to young actors who have previously performed in at least two plays (at school or elsewhere). Beginning actors are welcome in our other camps.
We're Taking Our Play on the Road!
We try to challenge students in a different way each year at Advanced Camp. This year’s challenge is performing for real-world audiences (instead of parents and family members only). We plan to take our play on the road to 2-3 local summer day camps on the last day of our program! We'll provide transportation from Bellarmine to the day camps where we perform, then back to Bellarmine where we'll present a final show for your family members. You'll experience setting up and tearing down a touring production (even if the "tour" only lasts one day), which is quite different from preparing a play in an established theatre. Plus, you'll perform a style of drama (theatre for young audiences) that you may not have experienced before. Enjoy our "summer tour" when you sign up for camp!
This Summer's Play: Kylie for President
Kylie Angel is determined to be Lincoln Elementary's next school president! Unfortunately, so is her archenemy, Devin Hartless . . . and Devin is ready to lie and cheat to get there. Kylie tries hard to do the right thing, but Devin's dirty tricks are winning him votes. Will Kylie keep her campaign on the straight and narrow? Will her friends help her get elected, or give in to peer pressure and help Devin instead? Will Lincoln Elementary ever be the same? With hilarious campaign stunts and zany fun, Kylie for President equips kids to make responsible, caring, helpful, and courageous choices! See the section above for an explanation of why we're performing a play for kids. Note that our play is subject to change based on enrollment.
