Suicide Prevention. Mental Health. Hope.
An interactive assembly about suicide prevention, mental health, and finding hope.
Glenn was the kind of friend everyone should have. A fantastic listener who loved to laugh and find adventures, he’d drop everything to help a friend in need.
Unfortunately, there were darker parts of Glenn’s personality -- parts that he tried to hide, even from himself. He battled depression but tried to cope by using drugs. He took self-destructive risks that got him arrested. Then one day just before Thanksgiving, he ended his own life . . . leaving his mom, sister, and friends to grieve the man he could have been.
But nobody’s story has to end like Glenn’s. It’s possible to find glimmers of hope, even when life looks bleak and the future’s hard to find.
- We can do things every day that bring glimpses of joy.
- We can search for meaning in the strangest places.
- We can get help from a counselor, a doctor, or a friend.
Nobody said life was easy. But it’s worth living, even when purpose comes on the other side of struggle. Through the cautionary tale of Glenn -- along with hopeful stories of young adults who emerged from mental illness with renewed joy -- your students will learn that there’s always a reason to live. Always.

Interactive Elements

The Crazy Talk Game Show
We’ll start the program with student contestants identifying symptoms of depression and anxiety. The first step in beating mental illness is knowing what it looks like.

Find a Why
When life feels empty, how can you sprinkle it with meaning? Try remembering how you’re unique and who you love. We’ll ask student volunteers to share how they find purpose.

Glimpses of Joy
With vivid, memorable demonstrations, we’ll teach students four tools to help themselves when they’re overwhelmed with big feelings: Distract Your Brain, Take Action, Get Grateful, and Talk About It.
We'll help your students learn about suicide prevention, mental health, and finding hope!
